New Roof Over the 100-Yard Range

Tegan

The club has constructed a roof over the 100 yard range firing line to provide shade and protection against inclement weather for shooters.

This new roof covers the entire firing line and will increase the comfort of all users.  The roof is a major improvement.

Special thanks go to Dale Simonson, Jon Giraud, Jeff Jerde, Pat Peck, Gordy Weber, and Bill Teoli for their efforts in constructing the roof.  Special thanks also go out to Rich, who donated the metal roofing for the job.

Constuction took about 150 man hours to complete over the period of a week and was completed well under budget.  Our plan is to construct another shooting shelter over the pistol/50 yard range in 2014.  Again, thanks to all who assisted in this major undertaking.

Sporting Clays

Tegan

Sporting Clays have ended after a successful season.  The decision to move open shooting to a regularly scheduled night led to a solid core of shooters participating in the course each week.

We averaged 8-10 shooters per week for most of the season.  The only real slow down was during the intense heat wave in July.

The Sporting Clays Team would like to thank all who participated in this fun sport.  Special thanks go to Dennis Knoll for his outstanding assistance in setting up and running the course on a weekly basis.

Rinehart 100

Tegan

The Rinehart 100 was held over the weekend of July 27 & 28, 2013.  Over 700 people participated in this, the biggest R-100 Shoot in the midwest.

Once again this was an extremely successful event and special thanks go the the 40+ volunteers who assisted in the set up, operation of, and take down of the event.

Rinehart 100

Tegan

The R-100 Archery event conducted at the Sparta Rod and Gun club was a success.  This is the seventh time the club has hosted this event and it continues to grow in attendance.

Special thanks go out to all of the volunteers who make this happen through their efforts and support.  Look for additional postings about this event over the next several weeks.

100 Bird Trap Shoot and Sporting Clays Fundraiser

Tegan

The club had a successful Trap and Sporting Clays 100 Bird Shoot on August 25 and 26, 2012.  The event included a 100 Bird Trap shoot on Saturday and Doubles Trap shoot on Sunday.  Sporting Clays conducted a 100 bird course on both Saturday and Sunday.

Approximately 60 shooters participated in the weekend's activities.  A special thanks go out to all of the volunteers who made this shoot a success.

Election of Club Officers

Tegan

At the February 2012 meeting the club members present elected a new club president and change the required number of directors on the Executive Committee.

Chris Goodman was nominated and elected club president.  He will assume his duties in March.  Special thanks go out to Paul Nelson for his service as club president over these past few years.

The members present also elected to reduce the size of the Executive Committee tofour directors, plus the three club officers.

Gordy Weber, Dale Simonson, Jeff Jerde, and Paul Nelson were nominated and elected as members of the Executive Committee.

Sporting Clays Season End

Tegan

Sporting Clays have ended for the season.  This season was especially successful for Sporting Clays as the club was able to purchase several target throwers and has already enjoyed the payback returns for these items.  We anticipate next season will be even more successful!
