5-Stand Shooting Opens

Tegan

The club will conduct 5-Stand Shotgun Shooting on Tuesday nights beginning Dec 4.  Open shooting will begin at 5 pm.

5-Stand shooting involves the shooter engaging a series of five targets from each stand.  Targets are presented in a variety of attitudes and consist of a single clay and two pairs of clays per stand.  Shooters engage a variety of targets at each stand.

Cost is $5 per round (25 birds).  Come and join us on Tuesday evenings this winter and shoot under the lights.

New Roof Over the 100-Yard Range

Tegan

The club has constructed a roof over the 100 yard range firing line to provide shade and protection against inclement weather for shooters.

This new roof covers the entire firing line and will increase the comfort of all users.  The roof is a major improvement.

Special thanks go to Dale Simonson, Jon Giraud, Jeff Jerde, Pat Peck, Gordy Weber, and Bill Teoli for their efforts in constructing the roof.  Special thanks also go out to Rich, who donated the metal roofing for the job.

Constuction took about 150 man hours to complete over the period of a week and was completed well under budget.  Our plan is to construct another shooting shelter over the pistol/50 yard range in 2014.  Again, thanks to all who assisted in this major undertaking.

5-Stand Shooting Opens Oct 22, 2013

Tegan

The 5-Stand Shooting Season opens on Tuesday October 22 at 5pm.  We will be conducting 5-Stand Shoots every Tuesday night until April 1, 2014.  This year the course is a little different.  Instead of shooting from stands set out on the trap field we will shoot from a covered structure that protects the shooters from inclement weather.  We also have a more exciting array of targets for the shooters to engage.

For those who don't know what this fun sport is, 5-Stand is a cross between Trap Shooting and Sporting Clays.  The shooter engages a total of 25 targets from covered shooting stands.  These targets are presented from a variety of angles that include incoming, outgoing, and crossing targets.

Sporting Clays

Tegan

Sporting Clays have ended after a successful season.  The decision to move open shooting to a regularly scheduled night led to a solid core of shooters participating in the course each week.

We averaged 8-10 shooters per week for most of the season.  The only real slow down was during the intense heat wave in July.

The Sporting Clays Team would like to thank all who participated in this fun sport.  Special thanks go to Dennis Knoll for his outstanding assistance in setting up and running the course on a weekly basis.

Rinehart 100

Tegan

The Rinehart 100 was held over the weekend of July 27 & 28, 2013.  Over 700 people participated in this, the biggest R-100 Shoot in the midwest.

Once again this was an extremely successful event and special thanks go the the 40+ volunteers who assisted in the set up, operation of, and take down of the event.

Sporting Clays

Tegan

The club will be conducting Sporting Clays Open Shoots on Tuesday evenings for the balance of the shooting season.  Registration begins at 5 pm and shooting will continue until dusk.  Anticipated cost is $12 for a fifty bird shoot.  Come down and give it a try.

Couples Fun Night

Tegan

The club held the annual Couples Fun Night on Saturday, February 16, 2013. A total of 35 couples enjoyed an outstanding prime rib dinner prepared by Moe Amundson.  The night's entertainment consisted of several raffles, and good conversation with other club members and their families.

Special thanks alsoo out to Jim and Jenice Suhr, Bob Ealey, and others who took the time to set up and run this outstanding event.

Membership Dues Increase

Tegan

The club members present at the February 14, 2013 meeting voted to raise the annual dues from $20.00 per family/$5.00 per Senior to $25.00 per family and $10.00 per senior.  The vote, with 16 members present and voting was 11 in favor of the raise, 4 opposed, and one abstention.

The reason for the increase is to prepare meet future club needs and make some capital improvements to club facilities.  The dues increase will take effect when the 2014 Memberships go on sale in November 2013.

5-Stand Shoot a Success

Tegan

The Club conducted its first Monthly 5-Stand Shoot on February 2, 2013.  A total of 44 shooters participated, despite the chilly temperatures, and had a great time knocking down the clays.

5-Stand can best be described as a cross between trap and sporting clays. In it the shooter is presented with 5 targets at each stand.  Targets are launched per a set menu, the menu is posted at each shooting stand, and come at the shooter in a single, report pair, and true pair format.  The clays come at the shooter from several different directions and include crossing, incoming, and outgoing targets.

The club conducts weekly 5-Stand Shooting on Tuesday afternoon and evening, beginning at 4 pm, and will conduct a second Saturday shoot on March 2, 2013.  Come and join us.
