Master Plan

Tegan

The club is planning on developing a master plan to improve club operations, facilities, and membership.  This plan, developed over the next several months, will address needed and desired capital improvements to all club facilities, enhance club operations, and increase membership participation in club activities.

If you wish to be part of this effort attend the November 2012 club meeting and help us initiate this strategic initiative.

Rinehart 100

Tegan

The R-100 Archery event conducted at the Sparta Rod and Gun club was a success.  This is the seventh time the club has hosted this event and it continues to grow in attendance.

Special thanks go out to all of the volunteers who make this happen through their efforts and support.  Look for additional postings about this event over the next several weeks.

100 Bird Trap Shoot and Sporting Clays Fundraiser

Tegan

The club had a successful Trap and Sporting Clays 100 Bird Shoot on August 25 and 26, 2012.  The event included a 100 Bird Trap shoot on Saturday and Doubles Trap shoot on Sunday.  Sporting Clays conducted a 100 bird course on both Saturday and Sunday.

Approximately 60 shooters participated in the weekend's activities.  A special thanks go out to all of the volunteers who made this shoot a success.

Updated Range Rules

Tegan

The club is updating the range rules to reflect restrictions on types of targets and simulated automatic weapons firing (bump firing).  Due to noise concerns the club will prohibit the use of exploding targets on all ranges.  Some of the larger exploding targets have the possibility of disturbing the clubs neighbors.  We intend to specifically prohibit simulated automatic weapons firing, sometimes called bump firing.  This firing technique does not permit controlled and aimed weapons fire.  Given the tight confines of our ranges and the need to ensure all rounds impact within the designated range area and inside the berms simulated automatic weapons fire, sometimes called bump firing, is prohibited.

Election of Club Officers

Tegan

At the February 2012 meeting the club members present elected a new club president and change the required number of directors on the Executive Committee.

Chris Goodman was nominated and elected club president.  He will assume his duties in March.  Special thanks go out to Paul Nelson for his service as club president over these past few years.

The members present also elected to reduce the size of the Executive Committee tofour directors, plus the three club officers.

Gordy Weber, Dale Simonson, Jeff Jerde, and Paul Nelson were nominated and elected as members of the Executive Committee.

Club Donates Money to Freedom Flights

Tegan

The club is happy to once again help with this worthwhile endeavor and has donated money toward the Veterans Freedom Flights for the second year in a row. Our donation will cover the cost of flying a Veteran to Washington DC for a day.

Wednesday Night Archery

Tegan

Once again the club is sponsoring a Wednesday Night Indoor Open Archery Shoot. Cost is $5.00 per night and the program will run through to spring. So bring your bows, check your pride, and have a good time shooting with other like minded sportsmen. The shoot takes place in the lower club house and begins at 5 pm on Wednesday nights.

Sight-In Clinic

Tegan

The 2011 Sight-In clinic was a success.  Some two dozen hunters participated and several volunteers assisted those hunters.  One hunter sent a thank you note indicating he had not hunted in over 15 years and was surprised when he was able to zero his weapon with only one adjustment.

Volunteers assisted the shooters by spotting rounds and providing recommended changes to scope settings.  Thanks go out to Ray Weibel for heading up this event, in spite of some personal challenges, and to the half dozen volunteers who assisted in making this annual event a success.
